Why is my puppy nipping at me?

my 7 month old male bulldog nips at me. He just comes to me and will nip at my ankles, knee, wherever. He will come up and just start tugging at the slippers on my feet. I will push him back and tell him stop. he stops while I talk and as soon as I start to walk there he is again nipping. I tell him stop and show him his toys. He will take 1 for a sec then back again. I thought maybe he had to much energy so we would go for a walk or I would play with him but nope as soon as he enters my room same thing. what can I do because he just dosent stop and I feel bad because he just keeps on and on and fianally I shut him out my room. what should I do and why dosent he listen?

Well, like I said in the last post…he’s “determined”…he is exactly what he’s supposed to be…and some Bulldogs can be VERY active. He wants attention, and when you talk to him, he’s getting it…even when you push him out of the room he’s getting attention…In other words he’s figured out a way to get exactly what he wants…

He probably DOES need more walking, more exercise…but he also needs discipline (discipline is NOT punishishment)…have you considered taking him to obedience classes? They’re a wonderful way to socialize your pup, plus making him think will use up some of that energy…also, a trainer can help you with some of his “quirks”…

He sounds to me like a pup who’s bright, and mischevious…I think I’d love this little guy, he’s so brazen…he’d have me laughing…but I’d still get him to a group obedience class.

Every dog has his “thing”…the one thing that seems like they’ll NEVER learn not to do…My old GSD, it was jumping…this GSD it was mouthing…my Westie, used to paw at me for attention. When you say “NO”…”get away”…”go away”…whatever, you’re fostering the behavior…

When you get home or get up…DO NOT talk, DO NOT make eye contact, DO NOT push, or acknowledge your pup, until he settles (consider him invisible)…when all four are on the floor, give his what he’s craving…attention!! He’ll learn that all four on the floor gets him what he wants.

My dog has a problem like that, but it is with jumping. As soon as I get home from work or wake up in the morning he is always jumping on me to get attention. I take him on walks and play fetch and tug a war with him and he still has so much energy. Usually what does the trick is when I let him have play dates with my boyfriends dog. That seems to wear him out pretty quick.

he just wants to play
