Well it means to "free from restraint, control, or the power of another".
Hence the Emancipation Proclamation.
But it usually used to refer to a child being legal declared an adult and no longer the parents/guardians restorability before they would normally be an adult.
Well, if you look up the definition of divorce...it's between two married people....not a parent and a child. They were probably just trying to explain it in a way that a child, or teenager would understand it...or, they are just ignorant.
well technically you do iva had social workers and lawers talk to me about getting emancipated since i have a baby and dont live with my parents and they always say that its basically divorcing them
Well I guess some parents are not fit to be parents, but you would still always be their child. I have never heard of kids divorcing their parents.
A divorce is between two married people...not between a parent and child. You can't 'divorce' your parents.
well there you go am jus simplifying it because basically thats wat it is....
when you legally divorce your parents
