embalming career! working with the dead

every since as long as I can remember I’ve wanted to becum an embalmer. but im not sure yet if its the job for me. I think I could handle it. but a few months ago a friend of mine died at a young age and when I seen the body I got realy freaked out. was that just because it was a friend hu was such a young age or is it a sign that I mite not be fit for the job?

Answer #1

Not necessarily. Of course it would be odd/depressing to see a loved one dead. I don’t think that is a sign that you shouldn’t be an embalmer. But gosh, I think you are strong and extremely brave to do something like that. Crikey!

I’ve been wanting to be a Vet since I was two or three, but now, I want to do something different because I would not be able to handle euthanasia. I think what you need to do is think of all aspects of the job, and all situations. Definitely give it more thought if you’re debating.

Go with your instincts!

Answer #2

It was because it was someone you knew. When you work in that field, you rarely work on people you know, because it is a conflictof intrest. Keep going for it, and try it out…
