How should a convicted felon further their education?

In 2005, I was convicted of a drug related felony. I spent time in prison, and am now looking for a fresh start with a new career. I have the means and the desire to further my education, but my question is what kind of career restrictions are there for felons in Texas? I know the obvious ones of course, but there has got to be SOMETHING I can go to school for where I won’t be turned down for a job once I finish. Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I think the best thing to do, is talk to a parole officer in the area, and see if they can help you with job placement. IF they have a list of places who hire felons regularly, you can see what type of career they are (ie. automotive, business, etc.) and then you can start applying to schools in that field.
