How can I make it easier to talk to older guys?

Before you take the chance to talk, you better observe the situation, what they are discussing at that moment. If you think you do not know anything about the topic, better just listen. But if you think that you know the topic, maybe you can start giving comments a little bit just to get theri attention first. Later on, they will talk to you more often. Don’t forget to always put a smile ….. :)

I would not call them upper class, and also as stated above just be yourself, I think of myself as very easy to talk with, because I try to listen more than I talk. The hard part about talking with older guys is that if they are a lot older than you they may have a different agenda than you, so I would be careful. Also I can say sports is not the subject for everyone, if you where to try to talk about sports with me, I would be bored to tears, it just does not interest me.

Here’s what I would do, I’m 19 and my boyfriend is 27 so I have a bit of experience with dating and talking to older guys. You just have to act as if age doesn’t matter! Act as if these older guys are just guys in your own grade, be confident. give yourself something to boost your confidence if necessary such as a cute outfit or maybe try wearing a bit of makeup. And talking about sports is good but make sure you know what you’re talking about, it will really impress them. So I would say the most important things in a nutshell would be..

1. confidence!
2. finding out what these particular boys talk about.. maybe watch ESPN highlights one night and if you hear guys talking about a “sick play” you can be like “Oh yeah! I saw that! wasn’t it hilarious how (fill in the blank) threw that interception? it really helped out our team!” (or whatever the scenario may be)
3. look pretty!

personally I mostly ONLY have guys friends, and a downside to that though is almost all of them have at one point developed a crush on me because I am considered to be “beautiful/hot/sexy” or whatever else to them (even though I don’t see it myself) but I as well can talk about guy stuff and I don’t fake it. I always watch football and baseball games and keep track of stats and scores because I love sports, I have since I was six and that just so happens to be something guys love too not to mention they also love a good looking and confident girl. Reel them in with looks but throw em for a curve with your knowledge of something they like that a typical high school girl isn’t expected to like & they’ll definitely want to talk to you. I have also played video games with guys, & i completely suck at video games but they’re always impressed by my determination and are always willing to help me out. just have fun! but it’s also important to not change who you are, guys should want to talk to you for who you are, not someone you pretend to be.

THatnks you know i am into stports too i just never have the self confidence to acually talk to them. I think that is my biggest problem :/ and fear of them not talking back or thinking I am weird

I completely agree with allexxxis! My husband is almost 7 yrs older than I. And his friends are as old or older than him. It is a bit weird of feeling to talk with them. It really depends on what the guys like. My husband isn’t a sports person like I am. So we started somewhere safe. We talked about food! Maybe the lunch room may be good to strike up a convo. Like is that any good? or if they are in study, is that class hard? learn something about them. For me? it was about finding out what foods. Then from there it was work. And what he did for fun. Cars, trucks, they really aren’t that much older than you! Don’t look at the age. My hub is almost 34 now and I’m 27. I swear sometimes he seems like my son! Just be yourself.Self confidence-believe in yourself. it’s you that will catch the right guys attention. Not you trying to be someone else!
