Drivers Ed

my parents wont let me get my permit until I get a job, but with the economy so bad today its been really hard for me to find im job. im only 16 and not many places that are close are hiring. I’ve applied everywhere, and made such an effort about calling back and what not but my parents fail to see that. how can I approach them in an adult manner and ask them to foot the $75 for drivers education?

You should bring up what you’re doing. Ask them if you do get a job, how are you going to get there? Are they going to take you, or are they going to let you get it at that point?

Make sure they realize that even at 16, you must hold your learner’s permit for a set amount of time (usually exceeding 30 days). And that’s only after taking the behind the wheel portion of Driver’s Ed with your school (most schools require you to drive for 4-7 periods, and be in the back seat observing for 4-7 periods).

As far as landing a job, you should aim for the food industry. All fast food places are always looking to hire, especially since most people are eating at places like McDonald’s and Wendy’s with the way they’re popping out money saving offers. You could also look elsewhere for a job outside of the franchises. For instance, make fliers advertising your services as a baby sitter for the people in your neighborhood. With the economy, some people can’t afford to pay such high prices for day cares.
