dog question

if my dog gets pregnant by brother will they survive or will they die?

Answer #1

like I said. BAD IDEA. REALLY REALLY BAD IDEA.

Answer #2

They will survive most likely. It’s not like with humans.

Answer #3

They will die. I’ve had two of the puppies that did come out like that and one of them died 6 months later and the other one died 8 or 9 months later. Please don’t. They may seem normal when they are born but they are not, and come out wrong inside.

Answer #4

We have a dog right now - that was born because a sister slept with a brother and she is just fine.

I’m not saying it’s a good idea - I’m just saying it can happen and they can be allright.

Answer #5

Inbreeding, even incestuous inbreeding, is not “bad”, but it is risky. Before we understood the nature of genetics it was merely observed that extensive inbreeding created some bad results. A perfectly sensible rule is that if doing something causes bad results stop doing it. However, you get better decision making if you can learn more specifically what went wrong. And in the case of bad results from inbreeding that went wrong is mostly (a) not knowing to keep good records and (b) not understanding genetics. http://dogplay.com/Breeding/inbreeding.html

Answer #6

Inbreeding doesn’t affect animals as bad as it does human, due to a greater genetic diversity, especially among dogs and cats. But a second or third generation inbreed can have big problems, still. So take care of those pups, but make sure they don’t get it on with each other.

Answer #7

It’s a crap shoot…if you haven’t bred them, then don’t…if it was an accident…then the inbreeding may affect some, but not all…affect all, or affect none…that’s why real breeders line breed, but don’t inbreed.

Answer #8

if you look this up you will see that inbreed dogs happens everywhere. and breeders do it to keep dogs purebred. but when more than three generations are inbred it can cause problems similar to humans. your pets if not 3rd gen then they should be able to have pets for as long as they want to breed.
