My dog is a member of our family and I love him to death, but I really need to get him to be more obedient and stop some of his habits. I really need to know how to get him to stop eating his own poop. He thinks it is a delicacy! What is there to do for this?!
Eating poop is a common occurence and is actually quite natural for dogs to do. Fortunately most of our dogs have overcome this inclination. Picking up after your dog is a great start but there are also a few other things you can try. You can add "Forbid" or "Deter" to your dogs food, this changes the taste of the feces and most dogs don't like it. You can get these products at your vet or pet store.There are also some natural things you can add to the diet such as pumpkin (but be careful as it is a fibre and you don't want to constipate your dog!) start with small amounts and see if it makes a difference.
As well, whenever you catch him eating poop, make sure verbally punish him by yelling "no" or "leave it" . Later on if you see feces and you say "leave it" and he does, make sure you praise him verbally and physically with petting and a treat!

You need to let the dog know who's boss.
The most important thing when going for walks is to let him/her follow you, instead of you following him! Dogs are big on that kind of thing. Watch the dog whisperer at some point to see what I mean.
If it's in your own yard, pick up the poop before he gets at chance to eat it.
If it's in the street, be alert and keep him on lead.
Oh, and don't let him kiss you until he stops eating poop.
