Dog whimpers when i touch her?

If you can see that she’s in a lot of pain, call her vet! There are any number of possibilities that we aren’t qualified to diagnose- at least give her vet a call!

Ok- check her teeth- she may have jammed one, or pulled one out/lose. That would explain the mouth pain. If she’s not opening and closing her mouth normally, she may have strained or dislocated her jaw- that is something that requires immediate attention at an all-night veterinary hospital. Gently run your fingers along her spine- if you feel any protrusions (bumps or bulges) that are particularly painful for her she needs to go to an all-night facility.

She may be stiff, like you said. Try putting a heating pad on her for a little while and gently massaging where she’s sore.

Otherwise, I’d say get up early and call the vet. If you notice she’s having any other troubles, I’d go ahead and call the vet. :)

its the middle of the night here! :(

Dashschunds are prone to spinal injuries. Try to keep her still, calm and take her to the VET ASAP! I just went through this with my dog…the vet used lasar treatments, steroids to reduce the inflammation and he had spinal surgery. DO NOT massage where she is sore. Just keep her still…do not let her jump up or down. Do not pick her up.

DITTTO TO UTOPIA…do NOT massage…do NOT use heat…keep her quiet and still (like in a crate)…and get her to Vet…she sounds to me like she’s misalligned something in her neck or back.
