Does your kitten do this?

I kinda am confused about my kitten.. Well they all do this.. When I feed them their kitty food.. They growl..lol but its not like some cute little growl But its like a bear growl! And if you get close to her (I decided to name her pumpkin) She’ll claw you and be real vicious.. She doesnt like to be bothered while eating..obviously! But why does she freakin growl while shes eating?!?!

Lol it kinda freaks me out..

(and yes I do feed her 2-3 times a day So she shouldnt b growling because shes Hungry..)

No please don’t leave the food out for a free for all. I see to many fat kitties at work that end up with so many problems from being overweight. Well I mean you can do what what you want but I would not leave the dish full all the time. Cat food is very high in calories.

Answer #2

Is she a calico? because I rescued one (she bit my friend, and took a couple of swipes at me), and according to the vet’s place I took her to, they tend to be aggessive…

Answer #3

It sounds like she is good aggresive. I would just keep working with her and pet her while she is eating and try to let her know that no one is going to take her food.

Answer #4

she’s probably really protective over her food. I have two kittens and they do the same thing. even if it’s just the one, it’s their way of being protective of their food. it may also depend on what breed the kitten is. if you are really concerned, ask your vet.

Answer #5

I worked real hard to teach my feral cat that if “you eat I pet” and I never gave in to him. just continue till the baby learns you are the giver of food.

Answer #6

Have you tried free feeding her? Cats are not prone to over-eating (unless they’ve been abandoned/ deprived of food), and you can leave the food always readily available for them to eat when they want.

If the food is always there, the kitten will eventually figure out that it will always be there and she will get over her over-protectiveness.

I have 8 cats, 2 were aboandoned, and they’re all free fed. You can put your hand in their dish and they won’t do a thing.

shes protective of her food where did you get her?
