Does dying hair with lemon juice work

Does dying your hair with lemon juice actually work? Does it make it change colour or does it just damange it?

Answer #1

Yes if you put it in your hair and go in the sun but it will only lighten your hair very slightly, and it will make your hair dry so be sure to condition it afterwards.

Answer #2

In fact, lemon juice does have a gradual lightening effect - a natural bleach. The traditional approach is to apply it evenly and then sit out in the sun to let it work. Then wash out and use conditioner.

It’s a lot milder than peroxide or other ingredients in most commercial bleaches. And, just like conditioner or shampoo, it’s sticky only until you rinse it out.

Answer #3

using lemon juice to highlight your hair will not damage your hair. although for the citric acid to work you need to apply a heat source, wether that is the sun or a hair dryer. (some hair is not capable of naturally highlighting)
