Does anyone know why questions get locked here?

I think he’s just happy that we DO lock stuff when it descends into a flame war…b/c if we didn’t do that, I think a lot of people would get really upset, a lot more often.

We lock them because of a few reasons:

1. there aren’t any good answers (eg, “how can I become anorexic”) we lock it after some positive advice has been posted
2. it relates to illegal activity, but we chose not to delete it (how to hack a site, obtain gaia gold, etc)
3. the question has descended into a flame war or argument and veered far, far off the original topic.

Those are the main reasons. If you see a lock question that shouldn’t be, let us know.

of course some questions are destined for the flame wars.
