Do you think this is bipolar

I think I have bipolar but im not going to the doctor, partly because my friend has a mum who works with doctors + apparently my mood swings arent big enough but thats because I dont show them half the time like… I hug my mum then the next sec im having a go at her, I feel over the moon then the next sec all I want to do is cry + throw things, or I feel like I have my whole life planned + feel perfect, next second I feel like nothing’s going right + im gunna be a total failure when im older. + half the time my head is always racing. My x bff when we were friends she said it might just be hormones but I was barely even starting puberty when she said that. Do you think it could be bipolar?

Answer #1

Knowing someone who works in a doctors office doesnt mean much. And what do you mean your moods arent big enough because you dont show them? Exactly who gave you that piece of advice? If it is bothering you, if it is effecting your life, then it is big enough and it is something people will pay attention to. That is one of the minimum requirement to diagnose a mental disorder, that something be effecting your life in some way… Bipolar is a complicated disorder to diagnose, and that’s with all the information, information you wouldnt know to give because you’re not trained and information no one can interpret over the internet. There’s a lot of disorders that look like bipolar, you need to go talk to a counselor or psychologist…

Yes it could be. Nobody knows for sure. There is a fine line between manic depression and depression and bi polar and all these mood-disorders. There is also a fine line between all these and just being an emotional person. A lot of people say that it’s just “teenage hormones” but that is not true. Stuff like that is a complete stereotype; it’s the same as saying “the teenage years are the worst.” I mean my life is the best right now so I don’t know what those people are talking about! So all in all take this very seriously and talk to your mom about it when you are in a calmer state. If you can’t seem to bring yourself to talk about it, simply express your feelings more and be yourself more so people start to notice things.

Answer #3

Your friend’s Mom is not equipped to diagnose you just because she works in a doctor’s office. Cambei is right. Talk to your Mom and let her know your fears. You can also talk to your doctor, your school nurse, or guidance counsellor. Any of them can refer you to competent medical help and evaluation.

Good Luck!!
