How did you meet your significant other?

Do you have a romantic story to how you and your significant other met? Was it out of the blue? Were you looking for a commitment at the time? Who made the first move?

I used to work at a gas station and my significant other used to come into the store all the time. I never noticed him until one day my girlfriend that I was working with saw him walk in and said “Hi Mikey”. So being the happy cheerful person that I am, I jumped up from behind the counter (I was stooped down counting inventory at the time he came in) and said “Hi Mikey” to him too. He smiled and said good morning. His smile knocked me off my feet. He had the most passonate, inviting smile that I have ever seen. It made me want to get to know him. So after I noticed him the first time, everytime that he came in I made it a point to talk to him. He finally asked me out about a month later. We have been together ever since.

Okay, my story sometimes feels like a cheesy chick flick/teen movie scenario, but anyway.

I’m currently 21, and my partner just turned 25. I’ve known my partner since I was 15- he was a friend of my sister, very geeky and shy. I thought he was a really nice guy, but I wasn’t interested in him in that way, because I hadn’t matured to the ‘I love boys!’ stage. He had a cycle accident when I was 18, and I couldn’t bring myself to see him in hospital, just because I didn’t want to see him in pain (he broke his skull in a few places, he was a bit of a mess). The next year, he moved into a flat with my sister and her partner, and I found myself going over there a lot just to talk to him about PC games. I developed a bit of a crush, but he was oblivious- he has been immersed in computers his whole life, so a girl being interested in him was unheard of in his head. Anyway, he jot offered a job overseas last year, and I started getting along with his 14 year old brother. The brother found out I had a crush, and calls up his older brother and says ‘Dude! She likes you! Do something, or you’ll be single forever!’ So, he took a 3 week holiday from his overseas job and flew back. He quit his job in the second week so he could give things a try with me. He proposed about 8 months down the track with my ring in a kinder surprise. Currently, we’ve been together just over 18 months, he’s just accepted a job at Google, we’ve just moved to Dublin, and are planning a wedding back home in New Zealand over Easter 2008.

Well, my husband and I met in the school cafeteria my freshman year in high school! I had been dumped about 2 weeks before that by the first guy I had ever said “I love you” to and was feeling pretty low! Anyway, he walked up to the table where I was sitting with my best friend and her b/f and said, “Hey! What’s up?”, to them, then looked at me and asked to sit down. He was trying to put his little player moves on me and was like, “I saw you from accross the room, and I was like damn!”! I was very skeptical when he asked me for my number and I remember thinking, “Wow, this will last a week!”, but I gave it to him anyway! Later that day, there was a pep rally and my friends all knew what had happened by then, so they made him come sit with us! They were asking us all kinds of questions and making us both even more nervous than we already were, then they said, “Why don’t you two hold hands?!”, so he grabbed my hand and it was sweating sooo bad, it was kinda cute though! We both went our seperate ways after that and he called me that night and we talked for hours! I realized he was just putting up a front in the cafeteria and he wasn’t a player at all! He was new in the school and was just a little nervous, and we have been together ever since! :)
