Is anyone else disappointed with today's "pop" music?

I like some pop music, but the only thing I can’t stand is obnoxious rapping.

Answer #1

Yes. All Pop music nowadays sounds alike. Or is autotuned to pieces.

Answer #2

I’m not really ‘disappointed’ with it. Some pop music is actually pretty good.. It’s just the mainstream pop songs that I hate.

Answer #3

Not really disappointed some of the artists are actually extremely talented, it just doesn’t fit my interests.

Answer #4

Yes, it’s disgusting and pathetic to be honest.

Answer #5

i am very disappointed with todays music in general not just pop!

Answer #6

No.

Answer #7

Well I’m not dissapointed since I had no expectations of it. But do I like it? Nope not at all.

Answer #8

Today’s pop music is pretty bad as most of the singers cannot sing live and only their studio recording is worth listening too. I think commerical pop is going down hill, audiences pay big bucks to attend a concert and most of the time the singers is crap on stage.

Answer #9

Pop music does all sound pretty much the same. Then again in the 70’s I complained that disco, in the 80’s new wave, and in the 90’s techno all sounded pretty much the same. There are some insanely talented musicians out there if you branch out a bit. In R&B Alicia Keys and in jazz Nora Jones are amazing. In metal Stained, Godsmack, Machine Head and Seether are pretty good. You don’t have to limit yourself to this millennium. You can listen to the great music from earlier decades. Patsy Cline, Roy Orbeson, CCR, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane, Frank Zappa, Police, U2, Thomas Dolby and Sting all pushed popular music in interesting directions. I don’t know what I did to diverse this but due to my 9 year old daughter I’ve heard Maroon 5’s Move Like Jagger about 10,000 times in the last week of so. ARRRRRRR

Answer #10

It depends. My favourite band is Evanescence and I love rock, punk and metal because it has emotion and it’s powerful and you can rock out to it but also I like some pop/dance/chart music such as Gaga, Jessie J and such but I am only disappointed if the song is either autotuned or has no real meaning. Not all of Gaga’s and Jessie J’s songs have deep meanings but them live is brilliant, no autotune at all. I hate songs with singers who have no talent and just use autotune.
