What is the difference between a jumper, tunic, cardigan, jersey, sweater etc?

I have no idea what people are referring to when using these terms? To me it is all the same and it is all supposed to keep you warm? Or am I completely wrong. Ps. I’m pretty useless when it comes to style and all that other stuff. Please clarify for me if you don’t mind.

A jumper is a sleeveless dress resembling an apron, worn over other clothing…or like coveralls.

A tunic is a shirt that is longer than average, usually about hip-length or a little longer.

A cardigan is a long-sleeved, collarless sweater that buttons down the front.

A jersey is a shirt worn by a member of an athletic team, usually over-sized, typically depicting the athlete’s name and team number as well as the team’s logotype.

A sweater is a crocheted or knitted garment covering the upper part of the body, usually worn over a shirt, blouse, T-shirt, or other top…generally worn for warmth.
