Going white or choosing to go off white/ivory doesn't have a whole lot to do with previous marital status or if you hold a v card anymore, it has more to do with personal style and the theme of the wedding. A lot of brides like the softer ivory color because it looks better on them or because the color fits their color scheme/theme better. Bright white looks better with silver accents and bright colors and ivory looks better with gold accents and darker or more subdued colors.
It used to be white dresses were for virgins and first time brides were cream was for nonvirgins and women who had been married before. That old tradition is long gone now and the color of the brides dress is just what she prefered...theres no meaning anymore.
Traditional white dresses were for Virgins, where as the cream was for the ladies who were not. I think today, you see white in first weddings and cream in any second/third weddings.
Some people look good in white, some people look good in ivory. I personally have the colouring to wear pure white, so I plan to!
