Okay right now I'm on deferred adjudication for poss of a controlled sub. I have been clean for well over two years and I have been doing well on probation...my question is I'm getting ready to sign up 4 school but I'm not sure what I can do in the world with this felony over my head and on my record!! I am a certified nurses aid and I cant use it so I don't want this to happen again! I want to use my degree not just hang it on the wall! I am in to essential oils and aromatherapy...can I own my own business? And major in business? I don't know the possible just the stuff I cant do ,like nursing or teaching or anything like that but what can I do??? I want to be successful what ever it is because I cant support a family at subway for the rest of my life! Help!
check state law where that is concerned. establishments can face legal action for employment discrimination against ex-felons. it depends on how it pretains to a job. if you apply for a nursing job, for example, and you're honest about it and they don't hire you because of that, then you can bring a good case to the department of labor when reasonable time has passed by proving you have stayed out of trouble. then there should be no reason for denial of a job. there are some places and online resources of companies that hire ex-felons, and they aren't crappy jobs either. Walmart isn't great, but since they are being sued for discrimination of various groups including women, now's a good time to get some management experience by advancing in their company for females. they also offer employee stock investment and loan programs. for opening your own business, establish a relationship with a local bank and credit union. get tiny loans making sure to pay early or on time and more than the minimum payment. this will get your credit great and you will be able to borrow what you may need for business. also many salons and spas will take on good workers for their company. so pick a good well-established one to work for and build your clientele, then when you go out on your own, you will have customers. check with a free legal forum to see when you can get that record expunged.good luck!
If you're into aromatherapy you could look into something such as therapeutic massage, you could easily operate your own business... felony's look bad on a paper, but thats why theres a portion of the application that says "explain". Just ensure that you show you have learned from your mistakes.
To a potential employer, a lesson learned... can be a job earned. Sometimes life experiences teach us far more than a book and a classroom.
its harder with a crime chasing you I know that but many places overlook that if you can prove your an asset umm I dont know for sure but it could affect getting a small buisness loan but if you look hard enough im sure many places will give you a second chance
