What are some good dietary options for building endurance and strength while losing weight?

I am in the Army and I start basics in March. I want to be as prepared as possible. Currently I am 10 pounds over the weight I need to be. What are some good foods that will help me gain endurance and strength, but lose weight? Thank you.

Answer #1

Food will not build endurance and strength. Only conditioning can do that. The Army is pretty old fashioned in its physical requirements and are big on calisthenics and running. General fitness will help but things you should shoot for before basic are: able to run two miles in under 16 minutes, able to do at least 50 pushups in 2 minutes, and able to do at least 50 situps in 2 minutes. Most recruits can not do this so if you can you will be that much ahead of most grunts.

I know this and I physically train every day to reach those goals, but I would like to know what foods can help my exercise.
