Did you know that vampires exist?

Ok…for all vampire fans (even Twilight fans) - did you know that vampires exist? I stumbled upon a lot of people who were attracted to this idea of vampirism, but they had no idea that the vampirism is actually a disease and is called photosensitive porphyria. Nowadays is a rare disease, but it was widely spread some time ago (stories of vampires started out from this disease). The disease goes like this: when you are exposing your skin to sun (in case you have porphyria) some substances in your blood transform in some sort of poison. Those who suffer, if are exposed to sun for a long period, will die and their flesh will peel. Their teeth (canines) are longer and red because of that substance. They also need to have blood transfusion. Their skin is usually pale. The only bad think is that they really don’t look good at all - just google for an image.

P.S - please note that english is my 3rd language. I did my best at explaining this disease.

vampires ARE real. I can easily attest to it. They don’t all suck blood, they don’t all have an adversion to the sun, I don’t know if they all hate garilc though, but all the ones I have met do. I have been in close assosiation with vampires for a while and they are not all gothic, nor are they all pale. I have met a few with really good tans. mostly they just look like any regular old joe off the street, but there is alway somthing about them…the air of a well kept secret, age in the eyes of a young face, a keen mystery. sometimes these are such subtle traces that only other vampires can see them. Sometimes it takes even the vampire years to discover themselves

no they don’t exist and never have a disease that few people have doesnt mean they suck your blood and are vampires either, they have nothing to do with vampires I mean if someone was predisposed to having an exreemly thin body frame that makes them look very thin, that doesnt make them anorexic a few hundred years ago there were people who went around killing people and drinking there blood either straight from there body or from a cup they usually mutilated and cut up the corpses as well and did other things to them, those people were considered vampires nowadays the media has made up a bunch of bullsh*t to make them more appealing to both older people and teenage kids who latch on to anything that’s seems “cool” or “hot” looking so they made up crap like they turn into a bat wear a cape hate sunlight have fangs bite you on the neck sleep all day come out at night are immortal can fly are all “gothic” looking and now even more stupid things like they change there eye colour and have super speed, super strength and can climb trees these are all things that little girls and boys will love, especially if there’s a “hot” guy in it they can all obsess over and want to date/have sex with nowadays though there still are some delusional people who kill other people and drink there blood, or kids who drink there own blood there are also vampire cults were idiot and uneducated kids drink each others blood, there own blood and re-use razorblades to cut themselves. they also do things like avoid sunlight, sleep all day, ect bottom line though, they don’t exist and never have delusional and sick people act like what the media portrays as them and a lot of delusional kids become so obsessed they think/believe there real

Answer #3

Actually, it isn’t just modern media that gives a type of “romance” to Vampirism…the original novel, Dracula was written in 1897…having been written in the Victorian Era, it’s not explicit like our more modern novels (and movies)…but there has always been a sexual and romatic inference when it comes to Vampires.

It’s a theory - she may have suffered because porphryia affects your mental health too, and you feel the urge to drink blood. I don’t like obsessed Twilight fans either :)

Answer #5

I’m well aware of that condition, and I’m just happy you didn’t go into a long rant about people who turn into bats and are immortal.

jaz, darling, you should read the question again, lol

Answer #6

I know all of these - I was just trying to say that nobody really knows that porphyria is a disease from which these vampire stories were started. It was a common disease and people used to drink animal’s blood. King George III suffered from porphyria, and some of his descendants. It is supposed that Queen Erzebeth Bathory suffered from porphyria too (this is why she needed all that blood to look good). The media really changed them into something they are not, but I was only talking about the disease, which is a very interesting one.

P.S - beside my native language which is the 1st, my second language was french (even if I suck)
