Which Portuguese dialect is better - European or Brazilian?

I am starting to study portuguese, but i can’t decide whether i should adopt the european or the brazilian accent and grammar? suggestions?

I personally prefer the Brazilian dialect… But that is really based on personal preference. Brazilian Portuguese is a lot easier to learn in my opinion because of my background in Spanish.

yea, maybe. but i heard the european accent is faster, has a richer phonetical variety, and it allows a better understading of the other accents. plus, it’s more latinised, and with less alliterations, which allows us to use more english vocabulary.

Yes this is very true. Like I said, it really just depends on personal opinion… And if you plan to use it in a specific area. European Portuguese won’t get you very far in Brazil.

i was saying better in the sense of linguistically beneficial - which would allow me to grow more as a foreign language speaker. but i agree with you btw
