Well I have two questions. #1- is if there is sugar in your urine, will it look the same or will there be a difference. #2- When there are ketones in your urine, what would it smell like?
The way I understood ketones and diabetes in college was that our body cells use sugar for energy. If there isnt enough insulin in your body then the cells cant break down the sugar. When the cells cant get the energy to your body, it starts to break down fat and when fats get broken down they produce ketones..the ketones show up in your urine by using this little strip that is dipped into a urine specimen. It reacts to if there are ketones in your body by changing the colors on the strip. They can show either trace amounts which are really small amounts, moderate or large amounts. Ketones are really strong acids and they can harm your body. Im pretty sure the urine looks the same, maybe a darker yellow? but I do know that it has a sweet, almost fruity smell that is pretty strong. You're breath tends to get a fruity, sweet smell as well. If you think that you have this you should definately call a dr and get your urine tested. If it isnt treated it can be really dangerous, or even fatal.
Type 1 and type 2 diabetes were identified as separate conditions for the first time by the Indian physicians Sushruta and Charaka in 400-500 with type 1 associated with youth and type 2 with being overweight. At the same time, Diabetes was one of the first diseases described, by an Egyptian manuscript from c. 1500 BC mentioning "too great emptying of the urine". My father has diabetes and we found good treatment for him, it is touchi extract quite famouse supplement. It is extremely effective for reducing the level of absorption of sugar in the blood after meals.
