Dennis Leary is a loon

I used to think he was funny, but he has gone to far with this.

My younger brother has autism as well as a cousin of mine. Both had loving, attentive, uncompetitive and perfectly healthy parents. Where does he get off saying;

“There is a huge boom in autism right now because inattentive mothers and competitive dads want an explanation for why their dumb-a** kids can’t compete academically, so they throw money into the happy laps of shrinks . . . to get back diagnoses that help explain away the deficiencies of their junior morons. I don’t give a [bleep] what these crackerjack whack jobs tell you - yer kid is NOT autistic. He’s just stupid. Or lazy. Or both.”

MY brother is autistic, and speech delayed, and has implusive and aggresive behaior. He has bad short-term memory, ADHD, AND sensory intergration problems. Not all parents just run to the doctor everytime a child shows a sign of aggresion or hyperactivity.

It was joke. People think its ok to laugh at things that offend others and dont care or thinkk about how it make them feel. Then as soon as the sights are set on them or someone they care about, they get angry. Just forget about it. Dennis Leary is a comedian, and he makes funnies. not everyone all the time will be pleased with what he says.

Answer #2

I never said I think its funny. I’m saying that the reason he says things like that, and makes fun of people, is because that is what his fans laugh at and expect. I just saw some ridiculous show of his where he is making fun of people with throat cancer. And guess what, the audience is laughing. And thats what I’m talking about

Answer #3

I know you didnt say it, I was talking about the people who laugh at those kind of jokes. They are ridiculous. Maybe I am just sensitive because I have seen this issue up close, whereas he has probably never known anyone with Autism or even throat cancer.

Answer #4

He wrote a book about it. It’s not funny, and if you think someone thinks that it is funny to make fun of a serious medical condition, then they need to have their head examined.

Answer #5

Yeah, sorry he made you upset. And you’re probably right about him not knowing anyone like that.
