How closely related? If you are a product of siblings or parent/child pairings than you may want to have genetic counseling to see if you have an inherited disorder. Many inherited disorders require a child to get the gene from both parents. The more closely related the parents the higher the odds they will both carry the gene for the same disorder. If by blood related you mean cousins than you have little to worry about. Cousins only have a slightly higher chance of genetic defects compared to other couples.
Could be devastating news, but it does happen. One harrowing story involves the 73 year old Josef Fritzl of Austria who held one of his daughters captive in a tiny basement for 24 years and perpetually raped her. She had 6 children with him so the kids are techinically both his children and grandchildren. Pretty awful stuff. Look up the story, it will make you cringe.
Since it's illegal in this country to marry, or "have to do" with a close relative, it's not likely to happen, but if it had, I'd say "ewww", and move on, I would guess. I mean, the knowledge might change your view of your parents, but it wouldn't change who you are. You'd still be the same person as before you found out.
Would not really care at this point, I would just take tbe news in and move on with my life. At this point it would be their problem not mine, or at least I would choose not to make it mine, they're my perents so nothing much you can do.
Just cuz it's not legal does NOT mean it's not gonna happen. Fathers raping daughters, brothers raping sisters etc. This happen all the time. Probably much more than we hear about.
first i ll be disgusted..but then i ll have to deal with it!!! im gona leave with that fact for the rest of my life so why not deal with it now n just move on!!!
I imagine alcohol would come into it. Any perhaps moving somewhere where no one else knew.
