Dance and drill

Most municipalities have their own teams. The little league teams but they have all ages as well. Try one of those. You’ll learn a lot and a lot of them do competitions as well. You could also join ballet / modern dance / hip hop classes to learn things and you could join gymnastics to learn to do flip flops and flips and stuff. You’ll learn balance from both which is great. As far as trying out - here’s a few tips: Smile! Smile! Smile! Look each of those judges in the face and smile at them. This shows confidence and they want to see that! So look at it like you are flirting with them while doing your routine. They don’t want to see a face that is full of concentration b/c it looks like it is work for you and your not having a good time. Also make your moves pop! Don’t be slow and sluggish. Execute your moves sharp and fast. Be on top of your 8 counts b/c that count shows you where to be until the routine is second nature to you. Always make your moves pop! Go into try outs like you are going on the field to cheer. Yell and whoa as your going to your position, do a few jumps and maybe a spirit chant “ S-P-I-R-I-T ! Spirit ! Let’s hear it!” That’s s good one. Keep your fingers together when they aren’t in a fist and keep your fists tight. Remember, cheerleading is a sport too, so have fun, practice, practice, practice b/c that will make perfect and you won’t be denied a spot on the team.
