Should I tell my Mom about my cutting?

Yes, I know it’s completely stupid.. but I did it. I was stressed and so much is going on in my life that I finally just gave in. I used to do it but I stopped for like 4 years and I really don’t want to ever again, but I get this urge now, that I really want to. what the f*ck is wrong?

Anyways, my main question is, should I tell my mother. I tell her almost anything, and she’s not really one to judge, but I’m scared to tell her because I don’t want her to think I can’t be trusted around ‘sharp’ things or to go out with friends. Would it help if I told her.. or should I just keep it to myself for now?

it seems like a hard thing to do but I def. would consider doing it. She might not have been through it but she can still comfort and help you through this. best of luck.

There is nothing wrong with you. Let me explain what is happening here. Pain releases endorphins, which in turn stimulate an area of your brain that makes you have an overall sense of feeling good. Endorphins are a lot like most drugs out there. People with an addictive personality will seek out recreating these feelings. I’m not promoting that you cut yourself in anyway. There are way too many risks with that method of releasing endorphins. Believe it or not, excercise releases endorphins. That’s why some peole are freaks and they hit the gym a lot, or have lots of piercings, or lots of tattoos. My recommendation is to mention it to your mom, and then ask her if she would take you to see an acupuncturist. Acupuncture releases endorphins as well.

Sorry but the terms of use prevent any discussions on cutting on the site so I have had to lock this question.
