I'm not so sure but I think there was some talk about this in politics long ago about making the euro the world currency. If this happens, it won't be too bad, the world would be a little more united. It's all part of Globalization.
I’m not 100% sure what the effects would be, but the only thing I know is, even if countries maintain its own currency, imagine getting every country to agree on rates etc would be an amazing task itself.
Import and export will be extremely difficult and Complicated.
