count of monte cristo questions

I need the answers to any or all of these. as detailed an answer as possible

1.) what does the idea “ justice” mean to edmund, at the beginning of his adventure as the court? what did Edmund’s idea of ‘ justice” evolve to mean by the end of the story?

2). describe Mercedes’ “prison”?

3.) the thief-buddy, Jacapo, pledges that he will protect Edmund–even against Edmund’s own plans/desires. When does Jacapo see something dangerous happening in Edmund’s plan? To Edmund personality?

4.) there’s an old saying: “ Revenge is a dish best served cold.” How does Edmund serve up his “ cold dish of revenge” against all those who oppressed him?

5.) the author, Alexander Dumas, is famous for creating great heroes with a breath-taking sweep of style, complication in the plotting and a surprise or two. The count of Monte Cristo is the one of his greatest legendary heroes and yet, his character follows some of the standard guidelines of a hero: “ hidden birth”/ beginnings; weapons; skills; a worthy goal/ mission; always tested along the way. choose 3 of these aspects and discuss how they apply to Edmund Dantes.

Answer #1
  1. Basically ( I might not be perfect as I read the full unadbridged book, 1366 pages about a month ago. ) But, He thought justice was the right of law and by the end of the book true justice was made by himself.. Killing off each one in his own special way.

  2. Her prison would be stuck married to her step brother when she doesn’t love him… If I have the right question.

  3. Can’t remember on this one.. Jacapo was the guy edmund met when he escaped from jail all I remember really..

  4. He screws up mercede’s marriage, makes her husband ( fernard.) kill himself. danglars starved to death and the other guy got stabbed by the prince.. Cant remember his name really..

  5. Weapons would be his mind and enginuity ( May be misspelled.) One of his skills could be deceit since only mercedes could recognize him by the way he moved., and for a third one… If they never framed edmund, He would never have become the count his “Awakening” happened due to the frame up.
