How do i correctly clean my industrial piercing?

I just got my industrial pierced yesterday. (to those of you who want it but are scared, do it, it barely hurts.) But anyways, i’ve been cleaning it by dipping a q-tip into some of the salt water i mixed together and going around the hole and the bar and stuff. some times the water is warm sometimes its not but it bleeds when i do it sometimes, i think its normal because i just got it yesterday but im not sure. Also when i shower (like twice a day) i use bar soap and clean it with that too and rinse it off very good. i do the q tip thing like 4 times a day. is this to much? or what other method of cleaning should i use?

Answer #1

Just use a Q-tip with the cleaner that they gave you (or should’ve given you) when you got it. If they didn’t give you the cleaner, just get some from Wal-mart lol. Oh and if it starts to get infected, just use a Q-tip and some peroxide once or twice and that should clean out the infection.

Answer #2

that depends on if your allowed to take it out or not. if youve had it for oer 3 months then you can take i our and clean it. if its been less than 3 months it needs to stay in there to heal, and taking it out disrupts the healing process. to clean it while its in your ear do a sea salt soak. get a cup or warm water and a tablespoon of sea salt (found at supermarkets or possible in your kichen cubbard) mix and then apply around the area with a cotton bud, do this at least once a day for a week or two. you shouldnt need to clean it that often as it gets clean when you shower

Answer #3

can you read what i just added to the question and tell me if its to much or not. they said cleaning it to much may irritate it but better safe then sorry or what? i’m really affraid it will get infected

Answer #4

ive got over 30 piercings by the way, so i could probably help you. as for the stuff you addded, your doing too much. its a fresh wound, it needs time to heal, dont scrub it with soap, and if your going to do the salt soak, you need sea salt. right now your irritating the new wound and prolonging its healing time, your also overcleaning it which is aggitating it. so your basically aggrivating the wound and its not going to heal.leave it alone for a week, it should heal itself, then start cleaning it once a day with a sea salt soak

Answer #5

well the guy at the place i got it done at said use i q tip with sea salt about 3-4 times a day and sometimes clean it in the shower. idk ha i worry a lot

Answer #6

4 times a day is a bit much, you only need to do it once or twice, since you shower twice a day though you really dont need to do antyhing as it gets clean in the shower (just make sure you dry it properly) dont worry about it too much, as long as you dont overclean it it should be fine

Answer #7

thanks your a big help. i cant wait till it fully heals though ha im not liking the silver bar i want a purple one

Answer #8

jaz is right . about letting it soak .. also it should only be cleaned 3 times a day at most .but it really only needs it once in the shower in the morning and once before bed. you shouldnt use q-tips as they leave tiny fibers behind that can collect bacteria and cause an infection instead you should fold a paper towel into a triangle it is much better for you to use. also dragon mist is a great thing to invest in:)

Answer #9

ps do NOT use peroxide .. or rubbing alcohol .. it eats the flesh you need to know that this is an open would ..

Answer #10

Pour bleach on it.

Answer #11

i know not to use that

Answer #12

Answer #13
