convincing my guidance cousselour

my friends told my guidance counselor at school that I was sad and had thought about killing myself and I’m not mad that he told but now my guidance counselor wants to tell my mom and I dont want her to know I’m feeling better since I talked to my friend about it and I really would rather give it a week or so and see if my sadness returns before my mom finds out but how do I convince my guidnace cousnelor to let me do this? and not tell my mom?

Answer #1

Sorry forgot to also add that this doesnt just apply to middle school it just depends on what your friend said and how seriously your counselor took the infomation, like a said before try and talk to your mom before your counselor does.

Answer #2

just tell the counselor that your not depressed anymore, and its nothing urgent, and get your friend to tell him that he’ll notify him if you get depressed or something… just tell him what your telling us. ask him to give you a week.

Answer #3

Well it all really depends on your age, if your in middle school guidance counselors won’t risk not telling a parent because like all pre/ teenagers lie, and we’re good at it. She could think you are hurting yourself or something. I’m not sure if you’ll be able to convince her… but I would bring something up to your mom. It all depends how close you are to her but fact is if she gets a call from your school shes going to freak out. Try and talk to your mom and I hope you feel better =)
