Confused with what I want to do in life

Hi, I need to clarify something that is driving me absolutley crazy. I want to become a radiologist when I’m older. But I dont know where to start. Right now I have the advantage of going to community college the second semester of my senior year of high school which I am going to take advantage of in the good way and get a head start. But with the field I want to go in I dont know what type of school I need to go to. Can I get my masters degree in radiology in community college? and after college can I go to a university hospital and get the hands on experience that I am going to need later on? Please help me I’m confused!!!

Answer #1

you can get your core classes out of the way at least at a community college. but you will need to find out if your school offers radiology classes. (my school does) and if it does, the classes usually include some kind of hands on in hospital experience.

Answer #2

Talk to a science teacher about the qualifications needed and where you can gain them. You could probably search it on the internet but your teacher will give you the best answer and also he can answer other questions you have about radiology :)

Answer #3

do you have a school counselor? you should probably talk to them?

Answer #4

Really, and I mean really think about this. Go and ask radiologist what do they think about their jobs and how they like it. Is very important, since you are young, to try to find a job that you will really love and that will not feel like going to work.

Are you ready to work split shifts? like one week you may be working days and another week nights. Most shifts are 12 hours long. There is a lot of stress if you work in a hospital and you have to really never leave the hospital for anything during that time.

Do you enjoy the outdoors? or at least knowing if it is sunny or rainy outside? If you work in a hospital you will always be in a room somewhere and on your feet. Money is not everything.

Sorry I hate working at hospitals.

Answer #5

do you have a careers adviser at your school? if not, ask your science teacher. I don’t know if in the USA you get work experience, but you could go to a hospital for that if you do.
