my computer gets past the bios and just goes to a black screen that just says "ta ....." its the only thing that shows up. i have no clue what the hell that means, ive never seen it ever in the time ive spent working on computers. this is my mothers computer though and i recently put a new proc in it but its a e machines computer if that helps
Well first off, seeing as you have worked with computers you would know what happens when the cpu goes bust.... in this case, no its not the CPU... If i'm honest the only thing that could possibly make your PC do this is a BIOS virus.... a virus that writes itself onto the Bios, so try this, go into your BIOS menu and find the "reset to factory settings" button or something similar like that... see what that brings and report back!
WHOOPS x.x i got it all wrong the board is a am2+ and the atholon II x3 is a am3 proc because i had a atholon x64 in there before, but isnt am3 mostly backward compatable with am2?

hmm i tried resetting the bios and i even swapped the proc to another computer running the same AM3 chipset, and it worked just fine.
wow that is wierd does it get past the ta... thing? maybe try reinstalling the os or put the old proc back in
specially since i put the am2 chip into a am3 board before and it worked just fine.
no it just sits there and the underscore just flashes.
