Why are there so many comparisons in the music industry?

I mean some of the people look a like but original is far gone because just about everything has been done…yet people still compare

artists today want to be compared. They want people to think they sound like another artist, so they look marketable.

I do not think they make the comparison. I think it is the audience that do the comparison with the previous starts or songs or performances.
