Why Clark Kent never had a beard and used eye contact lenses?

Just wondering i can not believe that Louis Lane never suggested to Clark Kent to use eye contact lenses and the guy never had a beard while he was working for daily planet lol. What do you think?

I’m not sure if contact lenses existed back then and beards weren’t becoming for professional news reporters of the day (or superman) ?

Contact glasses were still in early development and not available for the public. Also Clark Kent’s eyeglasses and the whole nerdy awkward guy is a disguise so people would not find out that he is Superman. His vision is actually that of a superhuman.
