Chihuahua pregnancy

Omg!!! My 8 month old chihuahua is pregnant what should I do?!?!

Answer #1

Well, My chihuahua is pregnant too, with her second litter. I suggest just feeding her extra (sh will eat and drink more) and be sure she has water. I usually give her at least one scrambled egg a day, they are very healthy for dogs. When she is ready to have her puppies, She will probably lay down in an inclosed area she feels safe in. And in the middle of the night, you may hear her squeel if shes giving birth, mine did. Well for the giving birth part, Have a pair of scissors, A few towels you dont care about, And gloves (if you dont feel comfortable getting dirty) handy. When they come out make sure the first thing done is to open the sac, immediately, of the mom doesnt start lcking it immediately then rub it gently with the towel, If the mom doesnt chew the ambilical cord off, pinch it in the middle andcut it, make sure you leave some room or you can cut it too close, it will bleed a little so dont worry. And it may be gross, but the dog will eat her placenta. so dont think its a puppy, one will come out ofter every puppy. the puppies should fit just in the palm of your hand. if you have a heating blanket, I would put one on low, cover it with a few towels and put the mom and puppies on it. make sure after all the puppies are out that all the dirty things are removed, it can get the puppies and mom sick, plus. it will stink. your chihuahua should be fine, a little young for pregnancy, but she will be fine. her first litter she will have no more than five puppies, usually three or four. Well I hope this helps. see ya

Take her to the vet… And get her spade. Either now, or after the babies are born. And learn how to be a more responsible pet owner. Breeders know what they are doing and can find homes for the dogs because they can prove they’re pure…

Calm down, goodness.
There’s nothing to do. When it gets time for her to give birth, you can stand by her side and help her if she needs helping, which she probably won’t. What did she get pregnant by? If the male dog was bigger than her, she will most likely have problems delivering the puppies and you will have to take her to the vet. If you have anymore questions, send me a comment. I will be glad to help you. My parents have been breeding dogs for years and I’m good with this.

Answer #4

she may be to young to be a good mother, you may need to pay to have a c-section done, I work for a vet hospital and it cost me about $700 to have a c-section done on my female chihuahua for ONE puppy. if you don’t get her spayed NOW, then I suggest doing some research on whelping a litter and Chihuahua gestation and be prepared and have lots of money on hand in case you need to visit emergancy vet.
