Why is cell phone use prohibited in medical offices such as hospitals and clinics?

Answer #1

Im pretty sure its because if everyone was on their cell phone at once it would be too noisy to get any work done.

Answer #2

The mobile phones signals interfers with the hospitals’ equipments. Blakbeltv2 is right thou, it can also be a consideration thingie. If one is sick, the last thing you want is someone gas bagging (talking) on their phone loudly in a quiet setting.

Answer #3

Its uh, V3 to you. :P

Answer #4

It interferes D: Oh my. No phone for me in there.

Answer #5

Most doctors ask patients to turn off their cell phones and pagers as a courtesy and so they won’t be interrupted during their typically brief consultation.

Banned in hospitals? Every doctor and nurse I know carries a cell phone and I’ve never seen patients or visitors banned from using them on most of the campus.

Answer #6

Well when my mom was in the ICU I asked them , because there is a sign that says “Please turn off your cell phones past this point”. They said its mostly to keep things quiet for the patients. But the doc say there is an off chance that it could interfere with the life support equipment. And well do you really want to gamble with lives - no matter how small the odds are of interference.
