A caterpillar is both a bug and an insect! All insects r bugs and lots of other little creaturs like spiders! Bug is a laymans' term and insects isa scientific term. Y wer u guys worrying abt it? :D =D All insects r bugs but not all bugs r insects! :D
Well they are not bugs. Because they are insects. So you are right. Many insects are called bugs when bugs actually only refers to some.

Actually, no. All bugs are insects, but not all insects are bugs. Bugs are specifically from the order Hemiptera.
