Who developed the first car?
It depends on what you call an automobile.
In 1771 Nicolas Joseph Cugnot made a 3 wheeled steam powered vehicle in France that was slower, more difficult to drive, and less practical than a horse and buggy. It could be called an automobile.
Amedee Bollee built a 12 passenger steam car in France in 1873 but it too proved impractical
Most people credit Gottlieb Daimler, Wilhelm Maybach, and Karl Benz as inventors of the modern automobile in 1889.
The first car to be produced in quanity was the 1901 curved dash Oldsmobile.
