What are some career options for a traditional artist?

I’ve been drawing portraits (pencil drawings) for a couple of years now and I’ve gotten a lot better at them and hope that in a couple of years I’ll be even better. I’m having trouble figuring out what exactly I want to do after high school and am really considering art as an option, but I have no idea what I could possibly do for a career as a traditional artist. I mostly draw from photos so I’m not really sure how creative of a person I really am.This is my most recent drawing.

You can start by selling your work online. There are some great print-on-demand sites like redbubble, Greeting Card Universe and Zazzle. They are free to join and you can make some serious money. Another good thing to do is to find out if your city or town has an artisit’s guild. This is a club of local artists that have a gallery to showcase their work. It’s a great place to make connections and find out about shows where you can showcase your work.
