Is this gurgling in my car transmission fluid?

So… I really don’t have the money to get my car seen about and I need someone who could possibly tell me whats wrong with it! …My step-dad told me my transmission fluid was leaking, actually pouring out of my car, and it was making a horrible gurgling sound when it was running, but now it wont even crank. So I don’t know based on the little facts I have about this situation, does anyone know anything?

Hmmm…. That doesn’t sound right. If the transmission is a manual one with a hydraulic clutch, then I could see that the clutch won’t engage therefore the starter won’t work. (in which you would refill the master cylinder with the appropriate fluid which is usually a type of brake fluid.) If it is an automatic…. well, I would first check other fluids to see if it truly was the transmission, then I would slide under the car to see where the enormous lead was located (draining an entire transmission would make a good mess and be fairly obvious). If the thing was “gurgling” then was ran dry…. the transmission may have locked which could be very expensive. If you see an obvious source of the leak (ie, detached hydraulic hose, gaping crack, etc.) then try to fix the leak (reattach hose or jbweld after cleaning surface with some rubbing alcohol) and refill your transmission fluid (this is done easiest through the hole the dipstick came out of and a slim funnel).

If none of these work…. make sure your battery is still charged. If so, then give up and call a tow truck.

Hope that helped.
