What are the Canadian laws on keeping ducks as pets?
in Ontario. I know there are some pets that are not allowed but I cannot seem to find them.
I love ducks, but I’m not really planning on getting one but I am curious.
Poor thing! You just want a duckie!!!! Did you know that you can buy them online? Baby ducks to your door!! I’ll add a link. But I didn’t search anything about Canada or if they ship there.
Ducks are considered “Scheduled Wildlife Game” and are protected under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
The only way you can keep a duck as a pet is to get a permit from the MNR, but they only grant these permits to educational or scientific research, game breeding, or if you are a licensed zoo or wildlife habitat.
I’ve actauly got a family friend that raise and breed ducklings (: However they live in Muskoka and they’re a liscenced farming family that deliver goods to geroceries and farmers markets… so I’m afraid that your duckies are not domestic pets to have. Nor are they allowed to be kept in our part of the gta.
Trust me, I know the dissapointment… I want a penguin :(
