Can you stay healty while underweight?

I was wondering if it’s possible to be underweight and still be totaly healty? I mean, if you eat very little, but also a lot of vitamins and stuff, does it compensate the food you dont eat?

Answer #1

No it doesn’t. If you read every vitamin and medicine bottle on this planet it contains the words saying ‘“this should not replace a healthy balanced diet”‘

The first reason is because food is the one and only way to make sure that you get in enough minerals AND the get properly absorbed. Plus your body needs fat, which if you only take vitamins and are underweight it won’t get, it needs it to function normally and protects you against illnesses and diseases.

Secondly only taking vitamins (and not food) will inevitably mess up your whole body inside (vitamins such as vitamin B and C - although good to get in daily maybe as a multivitamin - can be very harsh on your kidneys and other of your body systems)

Thirdly, you body needs food, for the simple reason - energy, if you don’t get in any fat, there you won’t have anything to burn for energy.

So in short, no, there is no way that you can be underweight and totally healthy.

Answer #2

Those are two separate questions. Can a person be healthy while underweight, yes. People who eat, but have really high metabolisms, can be slightly underweight and healthy. Can you be healthy while not eating, no. There is nothing that replaces food. You need to check out respiration. See in order for you to get energy (you know the thing that keeps your heart beating, your lungs breathing, your body moving), you have to eat. You cannot replace it with anything but food. We, unfortunately, unlike plants cannot make our own food.
