Can someone give me advice on how to find my father?

If you know someone that lives in the city he used to live in 16 years ago, ask them to go to the library and look him up in a city directory. From that you might be able to get his profession and use that to find him on the internet for free.

Otherwise, you can try googling his name, using quotes, like so +’firstname lastname’ +city

You can try genealogy sites like ancestry.

As clawjaw pointed out, your mother is probably your best bet. If you can determine the HS, or college, you can check alumni sites. If he was in the military you can try that venue, etc.

it will take a maximum of 6 people to find him…

your mom is the 1st… she will know someone that knows something

when you find number 2 person as above, they will know someone that knows something

the hardest part will be the 1st person your mom

you need to ask her the right questions…

did your dad have a sister or brother? has she seen someone that looks like him, where was that?

does she know his old address…? go to this address and check if any forwarding was going on…

etc etc etc you need to start with your mom… I know you said you didnt but its the only way gd luck :)
