Can I remove my puppies stitches?

My puppy was spayed and she needs to have her stitches removed. they are the metal kind and look pretty easy to remove. is this something that I can do myself?

No…you don’t want to do it at home. Most Vets count removal of staples as part of the spaying charge. You want the Vet to SEE the wound, to make sure it’s as healed as it should be & that there is no sign of infection.

You’d feel pretty crappy, if you did it yourself, and things went wrong…not mention what was a “free” service, could become a costly “repair job”.

Do you mean Staples??? the sutures we use disolve on there own, but we also do not charge are clients to bring back the animal when sutures or staples need to be removed. If they are stapes there is a special tool we use to open them up then remove them. I say if you care take your dog to the vet.

Answer #3

to be on the safe side- for the health of your puppy- let the vet do it.
