Can I move out at 17 in ohio?

I am currently 17 years old. I don’t turn 18 until febraury 2007 however I graduate in may 2006. Is this legal for me to do? My parents are going to be completely against it and if I refuse to come home may contact local authorities. I am really not trying to get arrested here but cannot stand to be home anymore. I have a good job making over a 1,200.00 a month on top of going to school plus I already have an option with a room mate. Any suggestions or advice?

To answer your question bluntly, your going to need to go to the courts and register for amancipation (declare yourself an amancipated minor). This pretty much boils down to showing the courts that you can and will support yourself legaly.

That being said, im going to make some things equaly blunt. Im 20 years old, been programing since I was 13, so i have always made good money at what I do. With a roommate , my $2200 a month is stretched to the limit, so $1200 a month isnt really much. With utils anymore, even run down appartments are at least $600 a month, add to that food, car payments , insurance (which you will lose when you become ammancipated BTW), etc, will make things ungodly tight. Did I even mention a furthered education?

If your parents would fight to keep you, then chances are they are not out to hurt you. My parents on the other hand beckoned me to leave. You will probably ruin your relationship with your family, which is something you will want to maintain, at least for times of need.
