Can I get a guy's perspective please?

I finally told this guy who I used to date back in junior high that I have frequent dreams at night of us being together, after he wrote me and told me he had the same dream. It’s been like 15 years since we dated and I’ve never had the opportunity to tell him that I’ve been in love with him all these years because we’ve always been involved with someone else, marriage and stuff. Well now I’m single but he’s got a girlfriend. He said he was glad that I told him and that it was good that I dream about him. From a guy’s point of view, how would you feel if a girl told you this? And you if had a girlfriend, how would you respond?

This is a very tough question I think, cause it would depend so much on how my feelings would be. If I were single and I had dreamt about a girl I used to date, who then says that she have been dreaming about me, then I’d be really happy because I’d feel like there might still be a chance of us getting back together.

However if I had a girlfriend, I might have been more worried about my own feelings, cause my subconscious is saying the ex, but my mind is saying the girlfriend I am currently with. It’s tough cause I try to do my best to be faithful, but if my subconscious says differently I’d get confused.

So if a girl told me this while I am single, I’d be happy. But if I had a girlfriend, I’d respond with how flattered I am, although I can’t respond to the feelings cause I already got someone in my heart.
