how many calories am I supposed to have each day?
It takes about 1200 calories to keep your body functioning - heart beating, lungs working, maintaining 98.6 degrees internal temp. That's if you are not moving. It takes additional calories for you to get out of bed, walk around, and just live your life. For an adult male 2000+ calories is a good target, for a woman probably 1800+ calories - in both cases, if you are active, you will need more. Michael Phelps eats 12,000 a day WHEN he was in training for the Olympics because he trained so hard. I seem to recall that on the show "Deadliest Catch", the Alaskan crab fishermen eat 8-10,000 a day when at sea.
Anyone that has a normal job that eats that much will quickly become morbidly obese.
1500to 2000 some times maybe more Micheal Phelps eats like 250 000 a day!
