Calorie Intake for 13 year old girl?

I’m 13 years old and a dancer. What should my calorie intake be? I counted yesterday to see and I had 1,055 calories. Is that normal?

  1200 is a minimum recommendation but you may require more because of your activities.

As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low.

You don’t want to be below normal in weight. It is unhealthy and can create serious harm to your body.

If your dance school is pressuring you to be excessively thin, then I think you need to find another school.

My dance school pressures us to be skinny so I feel like I have to lose weight to get better parts.

You should be taking in more like 2000 a day. :)

that’s sad that your dance school is doing that. instead of concentrating on becomming skinnier, concentrate on being physically fit. like being able to do push ups and swim well. if you are fit and don’t eat more calories than you burn (like 2000 is a good amount to eat) than you will be your ideal weight. however, not eating enough vitamins and basic nutrients can lead you to not having enough energy and becomming unhealthy and unfit.
