German is a far more modular language than English. It seems like Germans are constantly making portmanteaux out of various words. One German word I've been seeing more lately is "schadenfreude" which I understand means "delight in the misfortune of others" (English speakers need 6 words for this one!). German also gives us "reinheitsgebot" for "beer purity law." Thanks to Volkswagen commercials Americans also know "farfegnugen" for "driving pleasure." One of the theories why Germany produces such wonderful engineers is because their highly modular language trains German brains to think modularity while the more imagery based Romance lanugages: French, Spanish, and Italian train brains to think artistically. The haphazard way English incorporates words and grammar from every other language may be why so many Americans have dyslexia and dysgraphia.

That's what my online dictionary said. It's "Freisprechanlage" in my language. Why do you need 4 words when we use 1?
