Cake decorating tips

My daughter is having an 80’s theme party for her 12th bday. She wants me to make her cake (it’s kind of our tradition). I’m thinking of splatter painting it, but I’m not sure what to use for the paint. Any suggestions?

Answer #1

Use a regular thick frosting on the whole cake. Then make some thin icing and mix it with food coloring and use a spoon and slap it on. (Test it first to make sure it will work.) You can also pick up some 80s sunglasses and accessories to put on the cake as toppers. You can also use colored fondant, which would be easy or use fruit roll ups and cut out “splatter” shapes and stick them on the cake.

Answer #2

what you could do is take a squeesable icing pouch thing, and fill it with bright/neon 80’s type colors. you can draw a shape similar to a paint spaltter, and make it flat with a square of silicone or plastic.

for my last birthday I wanted polka dots on my cake,so I just put little blobs of pink and green icing, then took a silicone square and flattened it.

you probably want to put the splatter about an inch apart so they dont mess each other up when flattened
